GM Laying Off 1,700 At Electric Vehicle And Battery Plants, Citing ‘Slower’ EV Adoption

General Motors will lay off about 1,200 workers at its electric vehicle plant in Detroit, the automaker told multiple outlets on Wednesday, as well as 550 at a battery facility in Ohio as the company responds to “slower” electric vehicle adoption.

The job cuts will take place at an EV plant in Detroit and a battery plant in Ohio.
