For more than a month in the fall of 2025, Taylor Swift ruled both of Billboard’s most important charts — the Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 — with her album The Life of a Showgirl and its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” respectively. As is the case with any piece of music, no matter how popular it may be or who it comes from, both titles have recently started to descend on the weekly tallies.
It seems, though, that Americans are still loving The Life of a Showgirl. Swift no longer commands both rankings, but she does return to the top spot on the Billboard 200 as The Life of a Showgirl rules again. The title advances within her own discography and ties one of her most critically-acclaimed projects with another turn in the spotlight.

The Life of a Showgirl Ties Folklore With Another Week at No. 1
The Life of a Showgirl has now spent eight nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it has quickly become one of Swift’s longest-ruling champions. The latest behemoth from the singer-songwriter is now matched with Folklore, as both racked up eight frames running the show. The Life of a Showgirl and Folklore are tied as Swift’s fourth-longest-running No. 1s on the all-genre tally.

The Life of a Showgirl will have to command the Billboard 200 for almost another month before it matches with any other Swift albums. Both 1989 and Fearless earned 11 stints atop the competitive albums roster and sit side-by-side in second place within her discography when counting only the most weeks at No. 1. The Tortured Poets Department, her 2024 full-length, remains in a distant first place, as it topped the chart for 17 weeks in total.
Stray Kids Became the First Act to Dethrone The Life of a Showgirl
The Life of a Showgirl rebounds back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after taking its first break away from the throne following seven weeks in a row ahead of every other full-length in the country. Swift was finally beaten by South Korean boy band Stray Kids, whose Do It EP opened at No. 1 last frame, while the Wicked: For Good soundtrack launched in the runner-up spot. Now, as both of those bestsellers fall, The Life of a Showgirl is able to surge ahead once more.
Taylor Swift Nearly Reconquers Multiple Billboard Charts
The Life of a Showgirl lifts on almost every Billboard ranking on which it can be found this frame. As it jumps back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Swift’s historic studio effort nearly reconquers both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts, as it inches north to No. 2 on the two tallies simultaneously. The Life of a Showgirl is steady in second place on the Top Streaming Albums list, where it has already spent time in the uppermost rung.
“The Fate of Ophelia” Slips as The Life of a Showgirl Surges
While The Life of a Showgirl is on the rise, current focus track “The Fate of Ophelia” is almost uniformly falling. On the Hot 100, the single dips from No. 1 to No. 6, pushed downward by a bevy of Christmas cuts that have become hugely popular again – led by the inescapable “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. Swift’s tune slips from the loftiest spot on half a dozen tallies while simultaneously climbing to a new peak on the Adult Contemporary chart, where it steps up from No. 6 to No. 4.
